I purchased WinRescue 2000 when I first started using Windows 2000 for this reason. Here is a link for you to take a look at it if you like. It does not do exactly the same thing as System Restore in Windows XP but it does backup the registry and by configuring it you can also backup other folders that you might wish to protect. It is not free.

Hmmmmmmmmmm - Ok then.

Guess my question is this:

In trying to rid my 'puter of spy/mal ware I understand in XP I should run
SpyBot then run CWShredder then HiJackThis and then do the following:
Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted) Close all othe open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix the existing problem...

Can this be done in Windows 2000 pro or do i just run SpyBot & CWShredder then reboot?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Since you don't have a System Restore like Windows XP in Windows 2000 you can not do the step of turning off System Restore. This is done in Windows XP so the system does not get re-inflected from the System Restore points.
