Hi to all.
I have Windows XP Pro.(legal!) and I keep getting a message that I do not have administrative rights!
Please how do I get them, it is my computer and I am the only one you uses it!
Thank you. gotcha

try right clicking on MY COMPUTER and choosing MANAGE, then choose Local Users and Groups - groups - administrators. Make sure the username you are using shows up on the list.

If that's already there, let us know specifically when it tells you that you don't have rights.

I am sorry to send you an Email as I like all my replies on the forum so other people have the benefit of it!
However this is a real problem for me I could not paste the results on the forum (it would not work!) so does this tell you anything!
I really would like administrative rights, it is my blinking computer!
I have copied the results you asked for,I cannot paste them here for some reason ,so they are in another Email! and now I know how to do it I can send you any more if you need them to sort this out!
Sorry, I am 74 and don't know if I am a little dumb or a little slow! Bye. gotcha.

Based on the screen shot you were able to send me via e-mail, it looks like the user name you log in is norman. If you can get back to the same place that you were before, then double click norman, click the MEMBER OF tab, hit the ADD button, type ADMINISTRATORS (lower case), then OK

OR (just another way to do this)

On the left side you had USERS highlighted. You could select Groups, select ADMINISTRATORS, hit ADD, type norman, hit OK.

windows allows many ways to do most things... both of the examples above will do the same thing.
