wireless network trouble ( surprise )

Postby cant_ride » Mon Jun 14, 2004 6:35 pm

hey... i have a linksys wirelss router from my BB connection on windows 98SE to my receiver on windows XP

since i got it ive had no end of problems with it cutting out..

it just randomly cuts out sometimes hours apart... sometimes every 10 seconds even when im not even using the computer. anyone know the cause or solution?

cuts out immediately with online gaming and ( u might have a go at me for this one ) cuts out every 20 seconds exactly when running kazaa lite... altho the latter has only started happening recently.

please help if you can

Is there anything near the router that could be causing interference? Some cordless phones have been know to cause these types of problems. Also how far away from the router is the computer that keeps becoming disconnected?

the router is downstairs and the receiver is upstairs.... id estimate about 7m apart + one floor and 2 walls...

thing is though it always has a 'very good' to 'excellent' connection strength

the router is fairly close to a cordless but surely there would only really be interference when the phone was in use?
