yea so I've had WinXP for a long time now and I've had no problems with it. When i was doing virus scanning or something, I was cleaning up and then rebooted but since then my taskbar is frozen and the mouse is showing the icon for it being "busy" if u scroll over it after the desktop shows up. I can click on items on the desktop but for 5-10 mins I can't get to the START menu, or use the "fast link" toolbar to open IE.
I was just wondering how to fix it b/c this hurts.

Also as I was on CTL ALT DEL and the processes bar I watched until my TASKBAR was 'not busy' and when that happened a program called "imapi.exe" showed up under my processes but then it stopped and dissapeared shortly after. Does that have anything to do with my login?

After you've finished fixing this problem I strongly recommend that you visit the and download the Critical Updates.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

IExplore.exe Notice the capital "I" and "E".
termsrv.exe

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IEDriver] C:\WINDOWS\System32\IEDriver\IExplore.exe /U
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [termsrv] C:\WINDOWS\System32\termsrv.exe

Go to Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs and remove the following if they are there:

IEDriver

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\Program Files\IEDriver
C:\WINDOWS\System32\IEDriver

Now, empty your TEMP Folder / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and reboot.

brad

thanks

Thanks Brad, that makes a huge difference on my computer.....

Gosh, and I wouldn'tve thought it to be an "IEdriver" type problem and thought that was some system file.

good lookin...
