You are referring to your dial up connection correct?

Autodial is enabled by default in Windows XP.
Heres a suggestion:

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Network and Internet Connections.
Click Network Connections, and then on the Advanced menu, click Dial-up Preferences.
Make sure the Always ask me before Autodialing is unchecked.
Uncheck diasble autodial when I am logged on
Click OK, and then close the Network Connections dialog box.

re autodial

Postby badpolarbear » Wed Jun 16, 2004 10:12 pm

I dont know but I must have a different version of XP, I have XP Pro and tried to follow those instructions. I got as far as Network Connections and thats as far as I got. There was no Advanced tab there. It came up with the Lan settings icon but thats all. Maybe I did something wrong, Im not sure. I was interested in the autodial feature myself. Daniel

It helps to give all the details that you can think of to help us solve your problems. If you are connecting via broadband Im assuming there would always be a connection at bootup. If N.A.V. is retreiving updates at boot then you are connected. Am I headed down your path now?

No im not always connected, to open my b/band i have to click on the modem icon, then it starts connecting, what i would like to do is have it alwasy on when the PC is on, ie put the modem software startup program into my main startup folder, like the systray, that is in the startup options under the msconfig folder :?: the modem is a usb connected device on the Wanadoo 512k b/band service

So put a shortcut to your Network Connection in your Startup Folder.
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Right Click on the Network Connection and Select the "Options" Tab. Uncheck the "Prompt for Username and Password..."
