I downloaded an anti-virus *PANDA ANTIVIRUS TITANIUM*

it was scanning for possible viruses and delecting...

when I restart my pc and I click in my programs, INTERNET EXPLORER, OPERA, AIM, DESKTOP CLOCK, KAZAA and all the softwares, I cannot even install or remove , the only thing i can do is open the folders, a window that says ((( c:\documents and settings\administrator\application data\ )))

and another that says in the top ((( 16 bit ms-dos subsystem )) then.... c:documents\administator\appliacation data\microsoft\IE\quick Lauch\panda antivirus titanium.ink
the ntvdm cpu has encountered an illegal instructuion / CS:0E4B IP:0F 00 FF 00 chose "close or" or ignore

wow... not sounding too promising I admit. I'd personally format/re-install. If there are files that you need to backup, see if you can access the pc across the network. If not, try to create a bootable floppy disk with network support. A good way to do this is to get BFD and the Network boot disk [url]from www.nu2.nu/bfd/[/url] you'll need to download the following file

http://www.nu2.nu/download.php?sFile=bfd107.zip

once it is downloaded, extract it with winzip, then go to a command promt, cd to wherever you extracted it to (eg cd \temp\bfd107) then type "bfd msnet"

All of that should be done on the pc that you have that works, then the resulting disk needs to go into the problem pc, boot to it, and you should have network access so you can back up all of your files.

normally I'd suggest norton utilies (disk doctor and windoctor) since they fix many many problems, but since you are unable to install anything, I'd start from scratch and re-install

I guess I thought of one other option, you could boot to the windows setup cd (if you have one) and choose the repair option durring setup. I'd have my files backed up as described anyways before I'd attemt it, as I've had it make my system worse in the past. It works about 1/2 the time, and fails the other 1/2.

Moving to Win2K.

Have you tried starting in Safe Mode and gone to Control Panel to uninstall the AV? What about getting to MSCONFIG / Startup? Can you get to that? brad

dont trust anything that has pandas in it, just as a general rule of thumb. you know that whoever came up with a product line called panda is probably on something. just my opinion though. better to go with norton, or at least mcafee.

I have had more problems with norton than panda and i would recomend panda over anything. Is your panda still enabled or is it disabled. If its disabled you have stumbled across a virus. Try what was said earlier with uninstallin panda first and then see how it goes. then try the repair, that should do it and you should be able to continue. Did you d/l it off the net or do you have a disk? But agian panda is an excellent av. We sell it and install it on all our computers and never have had any problems like that but every program goes wrong for someone.
