ok here is my current configuration:

on the primary IDE, i have the 20GB as the primary master and the 2GB as the primary slave. on the second IDE, i have the CDROM. i'm pretty sure that it's alright since under My Computer it says that i have a 20GB with 2 partitions [C,D] and the CDROm drive as E.

on CMOS, it is detected that i have 20GB as master & 2GB as slave. i guess that's fine. what puzzles me is that under My Computer only the 20GB [with the partitions] & the CDROM is displayed.

i tried different approaches like enabling and disabling the quick power on self-test to see whether it may have an effect, checked under My Computer>Manage>Disk Management and rescanning the disks installed, and making sure that the cables are perfectly ok. all these did not solved my problem.

Can you boot off a boot disk & run fdisk again, just to check that you can still access the drive correctly? You could also check that it is correctly formatted here
