Keyboard Problems/ Repairing Files/Windows 2000 Professional

Help me please, somebody I have 2 problems.

1) On my Dell Inspiron 3800 notebook, sometimes the "k" and the "i" do not work on my keyboard, so I can't type in words correctly( "Kid Rock" looks like "d Roc"). When I plug in another keyboard, everything works fine. What causes this?

2) My second problem has to do with files. I ran Norton Antivirus and 15 files had viruses. Where do I get clean files to replace the ones I'm going to delete and how do I put them in the right place? Thanks.

1. Since the i key is just above and a little to the left of the k key my first thought is there could be some foreign object stuck between or under these two keys. Thus stopping these keys from making contact with the corresponding keypad on the circuit board, I’ve had this happen before on my laptop. With the laptop powered off and the screen opened fully, try turning the laptop upside down and lightly shaking it over some white paper and see if something drops out. Mine was a lump of cat hair.
2. A little more information is needed in order to be able to help with this question:
What was the name(s) of the virus that was found?
What are the names of the infected files?
Have you tried setting Norton to Repair infected files?
If so what was the result?

1. I will try that. I also ran across info on other sites that said the Dell Inspiron 3800 had a problem with the BIOS system that caused the keyboard to stop working. What do you think?

Norton was not able to repair these files. I tried to submit them and Norton would not accept all but one. Any suggestions and/or directions would be greatly appreciated. Muchas Gracias.

I did some reading up on this virus and it looks like all the files that are quarantined are generated by the virus. Norton has a removal tool that will remove this virus for you
