Hey, longtime no see, while vacationing in canada i installed Icewind Dale & Baldurs Gate 2 on my uncles laptop. Now when i goto play the game only runs in 1/2 screen mode, but its saying in the game setting its running in 640x480 full screen?
i tried to udjust the video settings but it only gives me 1024x760 & 640x480. when i switch it to 640x480 the screen shrinks to 1/2 the size.
my uncles all pumped to play the game, but it too small for him to see?

i think its a laptop thing...something stupid?

Thanks for the help in advance!
you guys rule!!

p.s. i likre the new look!

Running:
Dell Inspiron 1100

are their just black borders around the game? or is it actually in a window where you can see the task bar etc? I'm guessing black lines and will explain. Laptop LCD screens are designed to run at a specific resolution. They are physically made up of a specific number of dots... lets say 800x600. To display an image of 640x480 the laptop has 2 choices... try to up-convert the image to 800x600 (which normally looks horrible) or simply display the image with a border around it. My laptop has an image to "stretch" different image sizes, but is default to show with a border.

just a black border the whole way around, is there a way to run it in a window mode?

i am not at all familiar with that game. You may want to look at the game manufacturer's website to see if there is a way to run the game in windowed mode

I'm not familiar w/those games either but some of the more common commands are Alt + Tab or Alt + Enter. Give 'em a try....

As testrips said, the other option is to have a hunt around in either display properties, or the BIOS, for an option to stretch the screen to fit. If you post the laptops video card & manufacturer, someone here may have used something similar & know where the option is :)

I was a sales manager for Dell up until about a month ago. Though I am not familiar with those particular games, there are a couple of reasons why those games can't be played at the desired level with the Inspiron 1000.

Running windows xp home with a celeron and 256 mb ram along with an integrated graphics card. This config. isn't exactly one I recomend to people doing anything like gaming. The laptop is designed for "basic computing functions". If anyone was playing any kind of graphical intensive game (i.e. not solitaire or flash games, etc, but games like sims) they were suggested to get the 5150 for several reasons. pentium processor being one of them, but equally as important, a video card. Decent laptop for the price, but designed for basic computing functions; not gaming.
