Havent a problem with my machine...its randomly just crashing(shutting down) or hanging up, cant figure why. Even when it crashes, sometimes will take several tries to reboot the machine, often when I choose "Last Known Good Configuration" it will just continually loop back to that screen, forcing me to choose over and over until I shutdown. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I dont want to reinstall XP and loose all my stuff :(

Hello mithril Image

Could you please delete the version of HJT you have and
Please Download the newer version of and post a new logfile.

(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. A good place to make a folder would be in My Documents,
as this is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)

Hey mithril...
Please make a folder for Hijackthis, It's not adviseable to leave it on your desktop, backups will be spread all over your screen..Image

Right click an empty spot in the MyDocuments Folder----left click NEW---Folder
Name it HJT---copy and paste hijackthis to that new folder and we'll delete the other 1 in a bit.
Don't delete backups until everything is running ok...

You logfile looks clean mithril..Image...there's nothing lurking in this log anyway.

You could disable these at start-up:

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

jusched.exe
realsched.exe
P2P Networking.exe

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\bin\jusched.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART
O16 - DPF: {1D6711C8-7154-40BB-8380-3DEA45B69CBF} (Web P2P Installer) -
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/113d0eff45b ... xIE601.cab

ONLY IF YOUR GOING TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE APPLICATION
Go to Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs and remove the
following if they are there:

P2P Networking --->THIS IS OPTIONAL<---CAUSES LOTS OF PROBLEMS

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe

NOTE:IF YOU REMOVE from ADD/REMOVE IT PROBLY WONT BE HERE
AND IF YOU DECIDE NOT UNINSTALL DON'T DELETE THIS FOLDER

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin".

RESTART your computer
Post back with a Fresh hijackthis log and let me know how your doing.

Hello mithril Image

Are you getting any error messeges of any kind?

You may want to open the case and blow out any dust bunnies  :b2: bouncing around in there. Make sure to clean out all the fans too. Your pc may be having an over-heating issue.

You could also try running msconfig & selecting a basic startup to elimintae software issues....
