Folders plus!

Well not being a computer brain I don,t seem to be able to explain things very well!
This is the best I can do. When I download some things I go them and find that there is a Folder with their name on it and below there is a Document with their name on it! I open the Folder and find icons, I open the file and find the item that I downloaded!
This happens in many things such as I downloaded a program and it came in as : A FOLDER. "FFMPEG_files" which opened up as icons and underneath was a document which opened up as "FFMPEG HTML Doc" which had what I wanted in it!
Now if I want to save "FFMPEG"
do I have to save the Folder and the document? Hope you can understand what I am saying!
