MP3 Stopped working

Postby gooner1 » Fri Dec 31, 2004 10:33 am

Hi. I have been using my USB MP3 Player for over a year now. But yesterday all of a sudden it refuses to show the Drive or mass storage device. In my computer it has always shown up as "G" As my Card reader is "F" And by the way my card reader still works perfectly.
In Devices it shows as being there. But when i plug the devive in. It just gives out the audible sound to say its connected. But thats it. Nothing. I have tried re-installing the software. But it just does the same. On my player it states..Connected ready???.
The only thing i have changed on my comp is the Modem/Router so my lad can go XBox live. But i cant see as that is connected in any way.??

Can anyone shead some light for me...

Thanks..Mark.

Here is a better analogy. If you have one USB printer and plug it into each of the 4 USB ports on 4 different boots, you haven't installed one printer, you have installed 4. Your computer allocates resources for this item so you can do a hot swap later on. Now go plug in another USB printer (different brand) and it gets worse. At this point it may or may not print and will continue to be flakey until you remove all of the USB devices in the device manager and let the computer search for the hooked up USB devices

I think that when they designed USB, they didn't take into account that these items would not be put back into the same USB port.
