Data Path Rights?

Postby Phalcon51 » Thu Jan 13, 2005 7:36 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to help out at my wife's work, a medical office, where they have a small network of 3 computers running under Win XP SP2. The server is running a program called NDCMedisoft. It's used for all their billing, appointments, etc. The server's program was recently updated remotely (a small interval update, not a major version update) and ever since then the other machines have not been able to start their un-updated versions of the program. The program's splash screen shows momentarily and then a Windows error box pops up stating "You have no rights to this data path" and then lists the path to the server's data files. Is there a way to easily restore these rights on the other machines? The people who updated them are denying any blame for the problem and are providing no help whatsoever. I'm reasonably competent around Windows, but pitifully lacking in network skills.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would get out the manual and call their help desk. Its the fastest way to get it fixed.

I don't mean it to sound obtouse or obvious, but I am constantly calling a help desk for quick solutions. I had a brand new $500 dollar HP printer the other day way out in the boonies that wouldn't boot. the help desk walked me through a re initialization of the bios software. In most cases, your question to them has already been asked and answered before.
