I can't get my home network running

Hi all,
Sure hope you can help me out here. I am running Windows XP and trying to network with a Windows ME machine. They are both connected to the internet via a network hub. This setup was working just fine until my old PC died and I got a new one with XP on it. Every time I try using the network disk that I make on the XP machine, it ends up not working on the ME machine. It always ends up with someerror or another. Any way I can get step-by-step instructions on how to share between these two PCs? Also do I have to remove any old network configs? And if so, how do I go about this?

Did you run the WinXp setup diskette on the WinMe machine? Is the WinXp machine set as the "Host"?

Brad, I had neither set as host because they are hooked up to hub. Is that what is wrong? I tried running the XP diskette on the ME machine and just kept getting errors. I made 4 different disks and they all failed for one reason or another.

Are both PC's in the same Workgroup? When you log on to each PC do they have the same account information, user name/id and password? If not have you setup a new user profile on the XP PC to correspond to the ME PC?

Same workgroup, yes. Different user names because they are different comps and people. Not sure I understand the new user profile you are talking about. XP has user accounts, but that is for the local machine. I may have forgotten to add that this is XP home edition.

You will need to create an account on the XP PC that has the same account name and password of the ME PC since that profile does not exist on the XP PC.

Can the XP PC access the ME PC?
