it worked! i did everything you told me to do. i checked for windows updates and i've had 36 automatic updates. i did the spybot thing and this is what it came up with. fingerprints loaded-9,572. memory items inspected-1,571. files/folders inspected-41,783. spyware found-77. traces found-9,636. i removed all the spyware and everything is runnin smooth as silk. thank you so much. my computer had a stroke last night. NOTHING worked. my mouse wouldn't move and i couldn't even shut down. finally switched off the surge protector to shut it down. thanks again.
