camera upload video quality

Hi.. me again, this seems like a nice place.

since quite a few around here seem to read peoples problems i thought i'd ask about this.

I have a sony DCRTRV 355E video camera and was wondering if there was actually a difference between using USB streaming and DV ( digital video )-Lead. i dont have a dv lead and im currently uploading videos on usb streaming recording direct from the camera as it plays onto my pc.

I upload the videos their good, but one thing.. the software i have only lets upload at a certain resolution and you cant change it, only by interopolation and it doesnt look so good.so i put my dads copy of pinnacle studio and installed it, looked at the upload section and it had different resolution settings but said my camera was not connected.. but only because it wanted the DV lead for it, would this make a difference in picture quality and be able to change the resolution?

Not a major thing but it would be nice to know.

I'm certainly no expert, but I would have thought that yes, a DV lead would give you better quality. I know on my mates camera, using the USB cable means pulling data from the inbuilt memory card - that quality on this is OK, but not great. When you use a DV cable you are pulling info off the digital casette - the qualtity on this is much higher
