i need help!!!

fujitsu-siemens amilo D 7850, p4 3.06HT, 512 ram, ati radeon 9000, 60 gb hard drive, xp home. been having problems for a couple of weeks now. was transferring music to my daughter's mp3 player, restarted and nothing, just a blank screen but not BSOD! i couldn't get anything to work , even the recovery the recovery cd wouldn't boot, but i could use my linux cd so i went and installed that and everything was fine! now comes the strange bit. once linux was installed i could boot from windows (recovery cd) and format drive and install windows. but after about an hour of using it this morning i restarted and guess what, nothing again just blank screen, pc on but nothing on screen. and once again i can't boot from cd to get to repair, but i can boot from linux cd, any ideas anyone? but remember i can't use windows!!!

Find out your hard drive manufacturer and go to their web site and download their hard drive diagnostic software and run it. Sound like you could be pushing a bad hard drive to the max.

The diagnostic runs from a floppy and is pretty straight forward

thanks for that icecube, but it's a laptop without a floppy drive. its a fujitsu 2.5in i went to website yesterday and no diagnostics.
