PC is making a noise...

Postby hue_jass » Mon Mar 14, 2005 3:47 am

I was wondering if my PC was like 'dying'

I mean it works PERFECTLY fine, speeds, (not a great graphics card) geforce2mx
AMD 1.32 GHz, 384MB Ram...and it works completely fine. I know i need to update my graphics card, and more ram, and a faster processor, but for now, and my budget is quite slim, it works just fine. But recently my computer has started like "CHIRPING" it sounds like my fan is making noises, or something in my computer is making a noise, and I wasn't sure if that was a good thing. The fans look decent with some dust but since its a dorm room im living in right now i cant keep them completely clean. So i was wondering if theres some program that I should run to see if my fans are A-OK? or if I should open my computer box and try to like keep the 'inside' somewhat free of dust?

lol im just trying to figure out as much as I can about computers, and also how to build them in as little time as it takes. ......

hope people can help, or give me good websites to build a computer, etc.

You could try it’s a small program that will check your fan speeds and a lot more.
You could also open up your case and listen to where the noise is coming from.
You have at least two fans in your system, a CPU fan and a PSU fan, most likely you have a case fan as well.

my friend had a problem with noises from his comp too, hes one was older, but for his it was the PSU so maybe should check that, if you got another spare one and always when it makes noises like that its dust related. You cant really prevent dust that much even if you have fan filters, they still ware out after a while and dust still manages to get in. You could check your cpu fan as well sometimes that gets a bit dusty too. Dunno if that was anyhelp if not sorry :)
