Postby Muddy » Wed Oct 05, 2005 4:51 am

:?: I just did a clean install of Windows XP Home with SP2.For what ever reason after geting all the updates and Installing Antivirus with updates,I get these Runtime errors. Why is this happening?Microsoft calls them (Microsoft Visual Error C++ Runtime Libary) Program:C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE. How can this be Fixed? Thanks!Muddy

Does the system boot into safe mode?
How to start in Safe mode:
Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

Also could you check the Event viewer for more some more error information?

Start > Administrative Tools > Event viewer > select the application section first.
Look for any red or yellow icons, also check the system section.

The error should look something like this:
Application name Application version Module name Module version Offset
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Explorer.exe 6.0.2800.1106 Shlwapi.dll 6.0.2800.1552 000241c9

What programs did you install with XP? The runtime errors suggest a virus or a very old program that has edited some of the system files.

Other issues that could cause this would be a motherboard that is going bad or a flakey power supply
