Windows XP Network, Connect directly with another computer

Postby Jmknash » Thu Oct 06, 2005 10:50 am

Connect directly with another computer with Serial has never worked well for me.
Is their any other 3rd party programs like Windows RS232 networking which can do TCP/IP via my half duplex radio modems.

I'm a little confused on what you are trying to accomplish. The easiest way to get two machines next to each other communicating would be with a hub or switch that you can pick up for about 15-25 dollars. Each machine would need to have a network card.

You could also use a crossover cable to connect the two computers assuming both had network cards.

If you are talking wireless network cards, then you need a wireless router, in order to communicate. That could set you back about $40 for one of those.

I hope this is of some help, I haven't heard references to com port tranfers or rs232 boxes and radio modems since windows 3.1
