I am trying to install the software and drivers for my HP Officejet d135 all-in-one printer. For some reason my computer will not run the .MSI files that the HP installer disk is written with.

I am using W2K, SP4 and have run windows update today.
I have downloaded the drivers from HP they did not run either.
I ordered the newest install disk from HP and it too is written with .msi and will not run.
I have unistalled my old Windwows Installer program and re-installed the latest one and still no luck.

Thanks in advance,
-Matt-

ps - the printer works. I just can't scan wich I use often for work

Are you logged in as Administrator?

Do you get any kind of an error message?
If so what is the exact error you’re receiving.

Have you tried the Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable version found

I am loggedin as administrator

I do not get an error message

I have installed Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable

When I put the disc in the drive it gives me the "Open With" dialog box
There does not seem to be a way to open it from there...?

Sorry about the wrong path, it’s been awhile since I’ve run win2k.
The path you used should have run the .msi file.

I’m starting to run out of ideas here, you could make sure that msiexec.exe is registered

Run regedit, go to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSIServer
In the right pane, double-click ImagePath.
In the Edit String dialog box, make sure that the string in the Value data box
contains the correct path of the msiexec.exe file (D:WINNT\system32\msiexec.exe)

Restart your system in safe mode, logging in as admin click start, and then click run.
In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK:
msiexec /regserver
Reboot and try again.

I did find a registry repair for .msi but it is for windows xp
and I’m not sure the values and hex settings are the same :|

By chance are there group polices on you system?
