XP loads lates - start up

Postby stickfigure » Fri Oct 28, 2005 5:06 pm

Sorry, im not sure whether this is a hardware or software problem...
I just built a new computer:
-----------------------------
AMD Athlon 64: 2.21GHz
1 GB RAM
160 GB Maxtor HDD
Windows XP Pro
Motherboard: Chaintech VNF4/Zentih
--------------------------
When I turn the PC on it rushes through the Bios quick as lightning, but right after it just sits there on a blank screen for about 5 secs, then XP loading screen comes up...
Help!
I have already tried to make the HDD boot first, doesnt make a difference....

Are you trying to stop the 5 sec blank screen? If so, my first thought is its still initializing your hardware or searching for sata drives. Is your hdd sata or ide?

It sounds normal to me, The new Pentium motherboards with inline dual memory can take a minute to get to the splash screen, so 5 seconds isn't bad
