Sund stuttering problem

Ive had a new PC for about 5 weeks, and all of a sudden any time Im playing music or watching DVDs (basically anytime Im using the speakers) the sound seems to momentarily stutter and repeat the section of audio it stuttered on for a split second and then carry on normally, this happens frequently throughtout songs but at random intervals.

Its EXTREMELY irritating, not only because this is a brand new pc

Anyone know what I can do to fix this?
