BSOD/ lock up on game start up

Postby Circa_87 » Tue Jan 30, 2007 11:25 am

I recently replaced the motherboard and video card in my computer now every time i start up World of warcraft i get a BSOD saying "Driver IRQL Not Less or Equal" or a lock up where i have to manually restart.

I went through all of blizzards recommendations and got nothing I have updated EVERYTHING i can think of. I even got a replacement video card from BFG but still got the same problems.

i have read a few places to "turn off any unused IRQL" but i don't know how at all( although i do know how to view them) also the BSOD tells me to Disable BIOS caching and Shadowing which i also don't know how to do.

This only happens when i start up WoW i have tried putting as much load on my VC and ram but nothing ever happens. only the game.

Thank you in advance anyone who responds to this with an attempt to a fix.

Hello Circa_87, welcome to our forums

In order to avoid confusion and I have merged your duplicate post in the Hardware forum with this one in the Windows XP/2003/Vista forum.

Lets see if we can get some more information on the BSOD error.
Go to Start > Control panel > Administrative tools > Event viewer > look in the system section.

You are looking for a red icon, double click on the icon.
You are looking for the error that has the "Driver IRQL Not Less or Equal" listed.
Click inside the 'Description' section then highlight the text and copy and paste it into notepad.
At the bottom of the event window check 'words' and then copy and paste that text also
Then past it all of it into your reply to this thread.
