Virtual Memory Question???

Hey there, was wondering if i increase my virtual memory to its max, does that mean my computer runs faster and stuff like that? and performance is better for games etc?

It may run better, but it's not that simple.

The best way to get better performance out of your machine is to add more RAM rather than virtual memory. RAM is much faster than having your computer read from your HD (Which is where virtual memory is stored).

cheers, but i have 1 gig ram. should i still set it as max virtual memory? what are the downfalls of doing that? cheers.

From what I remember, virtual memory is like imitation ram, and like pcguy said, its stored on your hard drive. The reason why Ram is a much better choice is because it does what its made for. The head that reads of your hard drive (in which virtual memory would be accessed from) is a hell of a lot slower than ram (i think). You could increase the virtual memory, but to be honest id trust pcguy on it, ram isn’t that expensive.
