SP2 Problems

I tried to install SP2 yesterday and the install failed, and then several programs (WMP, BitLord, etc) stopped working/would not start.

I restarted the computer and it only boots to the "Windows is starting up" box and then reboots...starting in Safe Mode does the same thing.

I followed the instructions found here: http://www.pctechforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=3604 but the computer still does not boot.

Do I have any options other than reformatting?

Were you able to boot from your XP CD and get to the Recovery Console?

Thanks for the reply, and yes I was able to get into the Rec. console and enter the commands to remove SP2, but unfortunately the computer still did not boot...

I ended up entering XP Setup and used the Repair partition utility which allowed the computer to boot.

I decided to reformat since I needed to anyway, and on the fresh install of XP I downloaded SP2.

The download froze on "Cleaning Up" so I ended the program through Task Manager, and got a message that SP2 installation failed.... I restarted and the computer shows that SP2 is installed. Strange, but currently everything works fine.
