System Wipe Out!!

Postby tokyoman » Mon Sep 03, 2007 5:55 am

Hi all. I've had my Sharp Mebius for about four years now and I had a "great" idea on the weekend; I decided to wipe out my system with a System Eraser boot disk created with Webroot's Windowwasher. Once the system was completly wiped out I installed XP Professional and everything seemed to be ok. However, the graphics display is totally messed up, I can't change the resolution. Also, if i try to play a video or music I get an error message saying there is no sound device installed. I don't know if I've completely wrecked my machine or not...have I? Can anyone offer me any advice?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Tokyoman

You are missing some drivers. XP on the install doesn't get them all. If you right click on My Computer and Left click on Properties then select Hardware and then Manage, you will see yellow flags on drivers not found.

I suggest that you try your laptop's web site for the correct drivers and that should solve your problems.

Thanks Icecube, your suggestion worked well to get me to the next stage... I found the yellow flags for the drivers not found. I guess I need the driver for the sound and graphics cards. I've spent two days trying to get the drivers from Sharp's website, but since my pc is a Japanese model (Mebius PC-GP2-7CC) all the information is in Japanese. I'm SOOO frustrated with myself right now for causing this mess!
If anyone out there can understand Japanese or knows what drivers my pc might need I'd REALLY appreciate your help or advice.

Thank you!

Hi Tokyoman

Try this web link:

There is a toll free number and also a web link for email on that page. Japanese manufactures are usually very good at handling this sort of request. I've done this on several occasions in the past and I usually got a download link for the driver a day or two later.

The only hang up with Asia is that they are sleeping while we are awake, so it appears slower than it really is.

Thanks again icecube. I tried everything on the Sharp website but had zero luck finding anything close to what I needed. Eventually I got the specs for my pc on and just went searching all over the web and I finally found the drivers! It's been a very frustrating couple of weeks, but it feels good to have it fixed!
I'm having another issue now; when I run the Windows automatic updates the system seems to start doing it but then I get a message that simply says these updates couldn't be installed. There's no explanation for why all those updates can't be installed and I'm worried that I really need some of them. Any advice??

Thank you!!
