New laptop, new wireless router
Hey all, My better half went out and bought a cheap laptop (an ACER) so that she could do some work away from the office.... With Windows Vista
Then she went out and bought a Linksys wireless router...
The laptop usually sees our wireless network (as well as a few others) and on the rare occasion the laptop will connect. But usually the laptop won't connect. (even when the signal is "excellent") It then gives an option to "troubleshoot the problem" or "connect to another network". If I recall correctly, the laptop will connect to one of the other open networks that has a really weak signal, so it drops out pretty regularly...
This makes me think that there is something in the wireless router that isn't set up correctly....
Also, a friend who has a brand new Toshiba (with Vista) laptop has been staying at our home and she has the symptoms....
We had the "network" set up with security protection, but removed that to see if it was a password type issue... This didn't help...
Do ya'll have any ideas on what to look for??
Thanks again...
