start up problems

when xp boots up it doesnt boot any taskbartray icons right away then about 30 seconds later finishes booting up the icons except my sound volume icon which hasnt booted for about a month now for unknown reasons, and today my LAN hasnt been enabling on startup, also my computer has been unusually slow today

i have 2 Hds one 40gig 80% free my os hd
and a slave 80 gig 80% free
and task manager says i have lots of free ram
i run defrag all the time spybot and adaware i error check frequently and have tried everything

could it be a registry problem? or what?
