Windows wont shutdown...

It's probably some resident program not quitting properly - try running MSConfig & removing the chekcmarks next to all startup items. Reboot, and if that solves the shutdown problem, re-enable them one at a time till you find the culprit

Have you tried hitting Ctrl/Alt/Del when this happens and check for "Proccess" that are running?

i now have another problem, i removed my password for loggin onto the computer, but the window is still there i just press enter to get passed it for the computer to start up


i have no password set on the computer, shouldnt this have gone away?

Try this:
1. At a command prompt, type "control userpasswords2" and press Enter to open the Windows 2000-style User Accounts
application.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then
click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name and password for the account you want to be
logged on each time you start your computer.
