XP PC Recovery Question

I recently performed a PC Recovery and was wondering if there is any way to get my files back that I had before I did the recovery (mainly music and movies). I did not backup the files before I recovered...ooops...and also when I click on properties for my hard drive, the same amount of space is still taken up on it as there was before I recovered. Anyone who knows anything would be great..thanx
