Hard Drive doesnt show up

Postby ansmwke » Wed May 28, 2008 4:07 pm

I have my laptop hard drive connected to my desktop with a usb adapter cable. It has always showed up in my computer and in my disk management console. Now i plugged it in and it doesnt show up. It shows up in device manager "TOSHIBA 4345T USB Device" but has error code 39 saying the driver is corrupted or missing. The two driver it says it uses is disk.sys and partmgr.sys

Also the model number of the hard drive is HDD2183 MK6021GAS
I couldnt find any driver online for it.

Is there a work around to this?

ansmwke,

I suspect that it's the drivers for the USB device that are being referred to.
These drivers are typically embedded on a chip in the device itself and would need to be "Flashed" to be repaired or overwritten.

You shouldn't need any drivers to read a laptop HDD.

Have you tried uninstalling the device though the control panel rebooting and then reconnecting it?
