Please Help! Network Problems,

Hi,
I have a D-LINK DWL-650 11mbps Wireless PCI LAN in my pc. I also have a laptop with the same PCMCIA card (dwl-650). I can connect to my network, it says it is connected at 11mbps yet I can use a maximum of around 1.5% of my network ALL the time. I need to be able to send large files but it takes around 45 minutes to send a 5mb files. Windows says I have a full signal strengh.

Also, when I am connected I never seem to be sending any data, only recieving. I have no wireless access point and I am running peer-to-peer ad-hoc. Any suggestions on speeding my LAN up would be great. cheers.

Yes I am using 128 bit wep encryption, moving the laptop close does not change anything, the connection still takes about 45 minutes to copy a 12mb file across an 11MB network. Are there any other configurations that do not need a wireless access point that may solve my problems. thanx.

Couple things. I believe that's 11mbps (mega bits per second) but you should have much faster tranfer rates.
Try disabling Wep on both machines. Try transfering a file now. Any faster?
Areyou using 802.11b or 802.11a or 802.11g?
