Start up errors or running programs on XP.

Postby elhombreg123 » Tue Aug 05, 2008 6:51 pm

Hi i would appreciate much if someone helped me solve this problem. When i boot up my pc running XP i get this error message saying that Windows cannot find C:\WINDOWS\Config\lsass.exe. Or when i try to run certain system programs like system restore it tells me that windows cannot find rundll32.exe. Can anyone help me get rid of these problems? PLz:)

Hello elhombreg123, and welcome to our forum.

What you are describing sounds like a malware infection to me.

Please download HijackThis http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/hijackthis.zip and save it to your desktop.

To extract HijackThis:

1. Right-click your file HijackThis.zip and from the menu select "Extract All".
2. The Extraction Wizard Window will appear, Click "Next".
3. Click Browse and navigate to "C:\" or the "C:\Program Files" and click "Create A New Folder" and call it "HJT" or "HijackThis" or whatever that is easy to remember and then click OK.
4. Click the Extract button.
5. Close the HijackThis.zip dialogue box.

Now double-click on hijackthis.exe and when the window opens, Press the Scan now and save a logfile button and then when it is done, copy and paste the contents of the notepad it opens as a reply to this post.
