I am trying to run a game on Windows XP Professional that I used to play on Windows 98SE but everytime I try and run it it says "not a valid WIN32 application. Is there a way around this? Thank you.

parum,
Go to the executable file (not a shortcut) right click on it and then select "Properties"
Now click on the "Compatibility" tab, next put a check next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and then select windows 98 from the dropdown.
You might also need to select run in 256 colors and run in 640 x 480 resolution.
Click the Apply button and then click Ok, now try running the old game.

Ya I'm running an AMD Duron 900MHz with 512 RAM and the game is "Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter 2 Above the Treeline" for which I do meet the requirements. It's a dated machine but my old mahine went bad and this is what I'm using until I get a new machine. By the way this game did play fine on an older machine running Windows 98SE.

I found some freeware called "RegCure" that claims to fix Win 32 problems. Has anyone heard of this?

Try use "Vitual PC" on your Xp and install the windows98 in XP.
So you can launch the win98 in the xp and run your win98 games.
Although this take time to install the app but it seems more likely to work.
Hope this helps!

Parum, i strongly recommend against running a registry tool. Theres nothing wrong with your system, the game wasnt designed to run on it. If its telling you its not a valid win32 application then its probably built to run in a 16 bit dos environment that windows 98 was capable of doing. Your not having win32 problems and running a registry tool can easily cause serious ones.

that would most likely work but on a machine as dated as that one it will run pretty slow. Bill is telling you to run an OS inside an OS, its a good idea and you can try it but it will use alot more resources.
