I am needing to run a Blitz 811.g ethernet adapter in my notebook running mandrake 10 with the 2.6 kernel. Is there an RPM I can download to get this to work? If not can any one send instruction on how to get this to work? Basically it sees the card, but has no module for it.

This is an open source Linux driver for the ADMTek 8211 chipset cards.
This includes the Blitzz series ethernet adapters.

There is not much instruction on how to install the modules. I tried manually placing them in the drivers directory, but the config tool doesn't list it when i go to configure it.

To Install your ADMtek ADM8211 Wireless Adapter Linux driver

Type command "tar zxvf Install_RH100_100.tar.gz."
The directory "Install" will be made.
Type command "cd Install" to enter directort "Install".
Type command "./install" to begin installing Linux driver.

After installing the driver, you can setup your wireless lan card by
iwconfig or kwifimanager. Kwifimanager is based on KDE.
If you did not install KDE in RedHat, kwifimanager will not work.
Iwconfing is a text command based tool that can configure your WLAN and it works well.
In using iwconfig, everything will take effect after
you set ESSID by typing like "iwconfig eth0 essid "any" ".
The default channel is auto scan. In normal condition, the driver can
find the suitable channel to join. If you want to set channel by yourself,
you can use iwconfig to setup your channel. You also can set channel 0 to
let the driver auto scan the channel.

For example,
If you want to change channel to 2, you could do as follows:
1. iwconfig eth0 channel 2
2. iwconfig eth0 essid "any"
If you want to change channel to 1 and ESSID "Wirelss", you could do
as follows:
1. iwconfig eth0 channel 2
2. iwconfig eth0 essid "Wireless"
If you want to chage mode to Ad-Hoc mode ,channel 2 and ESSID "AD", you
could do as follows:
1. iwconfig eth0 mode Ad-Hoc
2. iwconfig eth0 channel 2
3. iwconfig eth0 essid "AD"

Anyway, the driver settings will take effect after you set the essid.

Thanks for the info. I was using mandrake though, not red hat. I do however have red hat 9 and from what I understand the rpm called madwifi should fix my problem. But I will try this if the RPM doesn't work. I will install red hat on the notebook and just keep mandrake on my desktop. Samba works well with both so I shouldn't have any networking issues. is not included in that tar file.

Is there a file with executeable permissions called 'install' in the tar?

no there isn't, but i found a file that got my card to be able to be configured, now it just doesn't power up. It blinks on boot up but stops once it goes throught the network settings.

OK then, so what was the file, and how did you use it? What did you put into the network-scripts folder?

yea if you could pull one of the posts, preferably this one and leave the other on , i would appreciate it.

As for red hat, works just like mandrake, file locations may vary a bit, but usually i can find what i am looking for. The file I created to get the card configured is this:
