I offer a free service to the disabled and elderly persons in the Phoenix
to repair and build systems from donated parts, old systems and soft ware.
I have a Compaq iPAQ, C500/810e that I am trying to repair for a elderly lady.
It had no (working) Hard drive so I fdisk and formated a drive and loaded Windows 98se.
I down loaded all the updated drivers from Compaq and got it to boot from the C: drive.
I can not get the system to reconize the drives (floppy or CDrom) in the MultiBay slot.
The CMOS does not show either drive. Any suggestions? I recieved no help from
Compaq or HP.

Assuming you have the BIOS set to detect them, if it's not then you have a hardware problem. Are they definitely connected up correctly & set as master/slave correctly? Can you verify that the cable, drives & motherboard connectors are good by swapping parts from a working machine?
