My DSL modem

Postby Un4g1v3n » Wed Dec 08, 2004 2:38 pm

Okay. First off when i try to go onto some multiplayer games, it says that it cannot detect a vaild TCP/IP address. People have told me to release and then renew my IP but I cant. When I go to start > run > winipcfg the option to release / renew is not selectable.

Secondly, my SL modem has two uplink ports. One USB and one Ethernet. The etherne one was attached to my pc and dsl modem (generally faster than USB) and then it stopped working. I dont know if its the ethernet port on my modem or if its the ethernet cord itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So you can surf the net fine etc? So does it mean that the invalid ip it is referring to is the other persons one rather than yours?

I can connect to the internet just fine. But when I try to connect via TCP/IP it tells me that I have an ivalid TCP/IP address. I dont know why its saying its invalid, when im cleary able to get online.

Also, do ethernet cords just stop working, or do you think its the ethernet port on my modem that got screwed?
