Usually, all you have to do with RAM is to simply install it. Of course you want to turn off all power to the PC and unplug it from the wall.

I havn't installed RAM into any new motherboards, but on the older motherboards, they wanted RAM installed into certain slots depending on the amount of RAM you were installing.... That info was found in the motherboard manual.

Again it's been a while, so you may want to wait for a more experienced opinion...

Doing a ram swap was always my favorite. So easy, so fast. No mess and usually no problems. Do exactly as they told you and everything should be fine.

RAM only works in pairs / compatibility.

You can rarely ever put a 128mb ram with a 64mb ram stick.

If you have two 512mb ram sticks you can try it and see if it will work. But if they arent the same amount, it rare teh computer will accept it.

Ive had this happen to me before, and the constant switching of ram sticks wore them down, so dont add/remove ram unless its necessary.

Ok, thankyou. I'll go get another 512MB Stick of the same RAM that i'm going to put in now.

Thanks for all your help

I'm just glad that the CPU I got only has 2 ports for RAM, unlike my old one which had 4 slots. It had 2 slots for 2 different types of ram (they way they have those, don't know the real term, "Notches" in them) But luckily the new cpu has the kind of slots for the RAM I previously bought ...

... wow sorry that was a um, mouthful and you guys probably couldn't understand it anyway ^^
