HOLY CRAP

Postby Tank » Fri Dec 31, 2004 8:16 am

Holy crap I am so freaked out! I just tried to put my Video Card in, and it went in fine, but it wont line up with the opening on the back of the case. What I mean is, it lines up, but the card is to far away from the screwhole in order for me to screw it in. The card is all the way in the MB. I was pushing the card in and the MB started flexing for crap sakes, then I said ok, thats definetly enough. Can someone please help me? What do i do now? I REALLY do not want to screw up this Video Card. I paid $625 for it, the Nvidia GeForce 6800GT. Thanks people!

Forget it, I give up! I am taking it into a PC shop monday, let them install it, I am not going to take a chance with a Video Card and a Motherboard. The Motherboard had to bend in order for the card to be screwed down, no way I am doing that. So nevermind the question. Thanks anyways.

Hey there, I'm kinda curious as to what the problem was, let us know what the shop tells ya....

It almost sounds to me like the Vcard was mis aligned. (or maybe even in the worng port...?)

Before you take it in to the shop, try this.... Pull the Vcard out and set it aside... go take a 15 min break and have a bit of food to eat....(try not to think about it) then go give it one more try...

This may give you enought of a fresh perspective to see what's going on...

Sounds like your case may be designed for low profile cards, in which case you will have to find a low profile bracket to fit your card.

I think I will try tomorrow and see if I cannot get it to fit. I will have a good full lunch and then clean off the table and have at er lol. Maybe it was the back of the bracket hitting my case or not sitting down. But the locking arm for the Video Card, locked, it only locks if the card is all the way in....so I went to Canadian Tire and bought some long bolts that will fit, I figured I could make up for the difference with nuts and then tighten it down, even if it is sticking out a bit, as long as it sits in the AGP all the way, I don't wanna pay a PC shop $40 to finish my PC if I do not have to. I will let you all know how it turns out, thanks!
