Sound from PC Monitor

Postby patkim » Mon Feb 21, 2005 8:54 am

May be this query is more related to physics but still putting it here.

I find that a lot of times, I hear a sound (Mechanical in origin) from the PC monitor (I suspect it to be the monitor). This happens about an hour or two after shutting down my PC. It is heard as if you are breaking a plastic sheet or something.

I feel that it could be due to the casing or overall physical structure of monitor getting cooled to room temperature and somewhere the tension on it is getting released.

Is this normal? Has someone faced something like this?
Thanks..

Hey there Patkim...

I haven't noticed this so much with monitors.. ours are usually on 24/7 but in power saving mode.... But I have noticed what you're talking about with my TV's. I have always figured it to be from cooling.... Parts and covers slowly expanding and retracting creaking and clicking with parts that are not.....

Its either that or you have ghosts..... :|

Good on ya
