AMD Sempron & Mobo Socket

Postby patkim » Wed Feb 23, 2005 6:16 am

Would like to know what type of Socket does AMD Sempron processors fit in. It says 754. How to interpret this info.
Does it mean that the CPU has 754 pins?
And what’s the structure of socket on Mobo…is it PGA or LGA or something else?

There are socket 462 semprons and 754 semprons, which is indeed the number of pins. PGA ect. , are intel socket types.

Thanks. So is there any relation between the socket number and the socket type
I mean say e.g. what will be the socket type (LGA/PGA etc) for say Socket 754 Sempron processor?

with motherboards, there will be a socket designator 754 is for AMD chips

A socket 370 is for older PIII's. The socket size tells you what will fit in that motherboard.

I'm not familiar with all of the chip types, but what you do is match the chip with the motherboard. in your case, the motherboard matching that cpu can be found on this link
