Graphics Card

Postby venney » Tue Jul 26, 2005 11:29 pm

Hello. I should be recieving my graphics card tomorow (or today if its wednesday), and every body keeps telling me how easy it is to put in. So im making a post just so i can ask some one, some one who knows what there doing, is it hard to put in? Can you mess it up? Or would someone whos never done it before know what to do, ive been told you litrally take the old one out and put the new one in, Then im guessing put the driver cd in and install the drivers, is this what you do or is it more?

I basically wany someone or more than 1 person to say how easy it is so my dad will let me put it in, hes put a network card in the pc before so i think i could easyily do it.

Thanks

Venney

Hey there Venny,

You didn't say if it was an AGP card or not....

If the one you are replacing is an AGP card then you need to remember that there is a little locking type pin that will hold the card locked onto the mother board. It needs to be pulle out about a 1/4" to release the old AGP card. (It will NOT remove entirely) and the old card will pivot out...

When you install the new card, just put the back side in first and pivot the new card in.... You may have to pull out the locking pin to get the new card to lock in...

Other than that it is fairly easy to install a new vid card... Just follow the Quick set up notes that came with the vid card...

Congrats on the new Vid card and Enjoy!!!!

Good on ya

Sry for a second post but I wanted to make sure that you saw this seperatly.... (plus I jsut thought about it...)

If you are currently using an onboard video card/output... meaning that your exisiting video card is built into the MB then you may have to disable the MB video card and/or driver.

I have never had to do this so I can't tell you much more on the subject, but would have to guess that it involves a setting in the BIOS....

Good luck

No problem ther Venny...

You might ask the computer people installing everything if they'll let you look over their shoulder while they work.... They probably won't but it can't hurt to ask, and ya can learn some stuff too.....

Enjoy all the new swag!!!

Good on ya

Installing a new video card is a piece of cake. Don't waste your money having someone do it for you, because really they aren't doing much at all. If you can read instructions, you can install a new video card. :)
