Mobos with raid... can they support 4 internal HDs?

Postby theredmunkey » Tue Aug 16, 2005 2:25 am

I'm trying to take advantage of this awesome deal at tigerdirect.com for a 250gig seagate HD for $80 (after $50 rebate). I'm actually getting two (with the help of a friend I can bypass the 1 rebate per household deal). I was originally gonna get a pair of Nextar 3 external enclosures as they are very sexy and work well. But then I was browsing ZipZoomFly.com and realized that many new Mobos can be had for about the cost of two Nexstar 3s ($80). and I don't really need more external drives cluttering my desk (I already have two)....

SOOO...

Are their any Mobos that will allow me to run 4 internal HDs as well as two disk drives? If they come with raid installed I can make two drives look like one right? I have 2x120gig internal drives plus the two Seagates I plan to buy... plus I'm looking to upgrade my ram, so a new motherboard would be a better option for me than purchasing two external HD enclosures if the price is similar.

Any advice? recommendations?

Thanks!

Not sure what processor you are running so I will assume an Intel. This is the board I use. I run a 3.2 GHz and I have it overclocked to 3.7 with no problems.
I have had it faster but it becomes unstable at 3.9
It has the built in raid and it won't break your pocket book.
