PC Freezing

Postby th3_d0n » Wed Oct 05, 2005 5:11 pm

Hey everyone.

My computer is playing up at the moment, whenever I play a game it freezes. I have no idea why. After it has frozen for about 30 seconds, it'll blue screen, but the message that appears makes no sense and all the characters are messed up.

It first happened about 4 days ago when I was playing Battlefeild 2. I have the latest Graphics driver for my card, and everything should run fine becuase I have a decent pc.

I have: AMD 3200+ 64 bit processor, 1GB Ram, 6800GT Graphics Card.

Everything was running fine before this first happened four days ago.

Any ideas?

Check the games website for updates, and also check for updates for you video card, there could be an issue with those two items that you are overlooking.

try resetting your video settings for the game.

Let's see if we can find the error event:
Start > Control panel > Administrative tools > Event viewer >
Check the application and system sections looking for any red icons
Double click the icon and copy and paste the error message into this thread.

They all say the same thing:

"Faulting application hl2.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module filesystem_steam.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0000e66f."

And the hexidecimal memory address - "0x0000e66f." is always the same in each one.

Any Ideas?
