Opening ports/port forwarding

Hi all, im atempting to open ports on my netgear wgt624v3 router. I am doing so to try and run p2p software, I folowed directions on portforwarding.com to open selected ports but the software still wont run. I used telnet to check these ports and the error I recieve is could not open the connection to the host, on port xxxx: connection failed, any suggests as to what it means? Is the router junk?[/b]

Scottishjim,

Have you tried for their instructions?

Are you entering the correct IP address for your system?
Are you opening the correct port for the p2p program?
