Welcome to PcTechforums

Click Start>Run and type services.msc in the box, click ok. Scroll down until you see Print spooler. Right click on it, All Task>Start

that should get it going again

When I did that I was given an error code 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. What should I try now? I appreciate the help.

give this a try, go back to start>run and type in (or copy and paste)

CMD /K SC CONFIG SPOOLER DEPEND= RPCSS

click ok

that should change the dependency and allow the spooler service to start. Let me know if it works.

Someone on the the Dell community forum suggested to go to my systems startup and start lexbce. exe. the spooler service is supposed to be dependent on this. Either way it worked. thanks for all the suggestions.

That error comes from installing a Lexmark printer and then removing it. Dell computers are known to come with a Lexmark. If you have removed the printer and moved up to a real one you will get this error

The fix, go into the registry and

remove LEXBCES from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler\DependOnService so that only RPCSS remains. Stop & Disable LEXBCES service & restart your computer

Rember to export that key to the desktop before you edit it, in case you make a mistake
