I had power calibration errors in nero that was caused by a bad batch of blank disk. Different blanks fixed my prob. but as far as cleaning goes the easiest way is to just buy a cleaning disk. If you insist on manual cleaning you can remove the drive from the pc, take off the top cover on the drive and clean the lens with a q-tip and CLEAR rubbing alcohol, dont use the green type and dont touch the lens with your finger.
