Wireless router on FIOS

Postby JCglobal657 » Tue Oct 23, 2007 12:41 am

OK, hoping the pros here can help me out once again.
I really appreciate the time you folks take to help.

I have Verizon FIOS hooked up to my gateway tower (700X) was worming for over a year. Having trouble I contacted Verizon and we figured out that the wireless router is no good. So hooked up hardwire and OK.
I would like to replace the wireless router, as 2 other computers in the home were running off of the failed one.
Verizon wants $140 to replace the unit. That seems like a lot. I see you can get G routers for 50/60 and N for under 100. My question is can I buy a router locally and hook it up and have it work or do I need to get the official Verizon FIOS router? Can an N router work with the G devices on the other computers?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Global.
