Postby vlshields61 » Tue Mar 17, 2009 4:11 pm

Can someone please help me? My Sd card reading on my computer suddenly stop working. When I put a card in the slot it doesn't do anything. But when I go into the My Computer folder and click on it when there is a card in the slot, The computer freezes. How can I fix this problem?

couple things...

Alot of those cards have a tiny slider on the side of them to lock or unlock, make sure its unlocked. Have/can you tried/try a different card?

its going to be a process of elimination. I wish there was a simple "fix" for things like these but im afraid there isnt.

I tried unlocking the Sd cards as well as using different cards. But I get the same results... the computer freezes when I click on the sd icon. Sometimes it says something about an I/O device error

vlshields61,

Let's see what your systems says about the errors.
Go to, Start > Control panel > switch to "Classic view" > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager
Are there any yellow icons showing up, if so what are they for?

Next, go, to Start > Control panel > switch to "Classic view" > Administrative tools > Event viewer > look in the system section.

You are looking for any red or yellow icons, pertaining to the card reader, double click on the icon.
Click inside the 'Description' section then highlight the text and copy and paste it into notepad.
At the bottom of the event window check the box 'words' and then copy and paste that text also into notepad.
Then past it all into your reply to this thread.

If you don't show any errors in the event viewer then:
Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery section
Settings button > System Failure section > check the box 'Write an event to the system log'
Reboot the system and try using the card reader to generate an error, then follow the above to get the exact error code.

Post back with as much information as you can, the more I know the better I can help you chase down this problem.

There are no red or yellow warning in the device manager section . So I did the reboot and put the card in and nothing still. So I tried to open the card and the error message I got was: F:/is not accessable. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error
